Arsenal are set to accept an offer of £1.5 million for young Spanish defender Ignasi Miquel, report the Mail, with the former Barcelona youngster heading to Championship side Norwich City as Arsene Wenger trims his Emirates Stadium squad ahead of potential late window swoops.
It is expected that the Gunners will be in the market for a new centre back, particularly if the Miquel deal progresses, with teenager Calum Chambers the club’s only cover for Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker, having only been converted from full back in recent weeks.
A striker may also be on Arsene Wenger’s shopping list, with a foot injury sustained by Frenchman Olivier Giroud having thrown Wenger’s attacking plotting into disarray – and potentially opening up the possibility of a move for Radamel Falcao from AS Monaco.
Miquel has made just five senior league appearances for the Gunners since arriving as a teenager, plus a further seven on loan at then-Championship outfit Leicester City, but has failed to quite make the grade at the Emirates Stadium.
