North London rivals will go head to head for Alvaro Vadillo of Real Betis…
Arsenal look set to beat Tottenham to the signature of Real Betis winger Alvaro Vadillo, reports The Daily Mail.
The 18-year-old, touted as ‘The New Ronaldo’, became the youngest player to ever start a La Liga match back in 2011, aged 16, 11 months and 7 days.
Vadillo’s lightning speed and fondness for a step-over on the left flank has drawn the comparisons to the Portuguese legend, but the 18-year-old has yet to score a first-team goal for the La Liga side.
He is predominantly right-footed, and like most attacking wingers in modern football, enjoys cutting in from the wing on his favoured boot.
He has turned out for various Spanish youth sides, although has yet to make an appearance for the Under-21s, who won the summer’s European Championship of course.
Manchester United had previously been linked with a deal for the Spanish youngster, and Betis reportedly turned down a £2.5m from the Premier League champions last year. Arsenal now appear favourites to snap up the wonderkid however, who would join Yaya Sanogo at the Emirates this summer, who arrived on a free transfer.
Tottenham could be considering the wonderkid as a long-term Gareth bale replacement, although would likely spend any transfer fee they receive from Real Madrid on a proven international.
