Arsenal will approach Paris Saint Germain to investigate the possibility of signing their Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani.
Their move follows the news that first-choice striker Olivier Giroud could be out for the remainder of the calender year, following the knock to his ankle he sustained against Everton last weekend.
The Daily Express believe that the Gunners are prepare to offer the Ligue 1 giants upwards of £50m for Cavani, who scored 25 goals in all competitions last season, ironically his worst return in four years.
Arsenal have a number of players who can operate as a striker, including Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott, Joel Campbell and Yaya Sanogo, but Wenger is concerned that the lack of an orthodox forward will hinder his team’s chances in the Premier League race.
The Express reference reports in France, which claim that Cavani, who had been tipped earlier in the transfer window to join Louis Van Gaal at Manchester United, is unhappy at the Ligue 1 side, where Zlatan Ibrahimovic takes centre-stage, and although he is prepared to give his PSG career one more season, an offer from Arsenal could be too good to turn down.
