Arsenal look set to miss out on Ligue 1 starlet Jordan Amavi, according to reports.
The Nice left-back was reportedly being chased by the Gunners, however, The Telegraph reports Aston Villa are closing in on a £9m deal for the Frenchman.
The 21-year-old is knocking on the door of making his first senior appearance for France following his excellent performances for both Nice and the France U-21 side.
According to The Daily Mail, Amavi has needed convincing to join Tim Sherwood’s side however Villa are confident of completing a deal.
Sherwood has already signed former Manchester City defender Micah Richards on a free transfer and has completed a £9m deal for Lille defensive midfieler Idrissa Gueye.
The club may be in danger of losing star striker Christian Benteke however, with The Sun reporting Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is planning to trigger the Belgian’s £32.5m buyout clause by the weekend.
