Gunners to make offer to Mario Yepes.
Arsenal are set to make an approach for vastly experienced central defender Mario Yepes on a free transfer, report Colombian media outlet Antena 2, after Arsene Wenger failed to strengthen his back line during the transfer window itself.
Yepes seemingly retired after being released by Atalanta at the end of last season and putting in a string of impressive performances for Colombia at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, but he could be lured back into the game by a good offer from Premier League giants Arsenal.
The 38 year-old has previously played for the likes of River Plate, Paris Saint Germain and AC Milan and is a vastly experienced and composed centre back who could offer Arsenal some excellent cover, at least until the transfer market reopens against in January, with Wenger currently having just six senior defensive options to pick from.
