Falcao has been given permission to leave Monaco on-loan this summer in return for £20million, and reports this week suggested that Arsenal and Madrid were going head-to-head for his signature.
The Gunners had seemingly lost out on the 28-year-old, as he looked to be all set to make his return to the Spanish capital, but they have been given fresh hope since Wednesday night with the Spanish press saying that Real have put an abrupt end to their interest in the Colombian hit man.
Falcao is reportedly open to a move to the Emirates Stadium after senior officials held talks with Monaco about a switch, and though no deal has been done Wenger will be buoyed by the news that he now has a clear run at one of the world’s deadliest strikers.
After missing the second half of last season, and the World Cup, through injury, the former Atletico Madrid star has already announced his return this term by bagging two goals in three games for Monaco.
