Gunners keen to strengthen at the back this summer, with Sevilla defender wanted at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal may resurrect their long-running interest in Sevilla defender Federico Fazio at the end of this campaign as head coach Arsene Wenger looks to add some much-needed defensive solidity to the North London club’s back four next season, says the Daily Mail.
It is an open secret at the Emirates that the Frenchman is desperate to sign a commanding and domineering centre back when the transfer window reopens on June 1.
The Premier League giants have been dogged by defensive uncertainty for a number of seasons now, with Wenger alternating between the likes of club captain Thomas Vermaelen, Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker at the back at various different stages of the season, and with varying degrees of success.
And now Wenger is believed to be keen to revive his interest in Argentina international Fazio, especially as the 26-year-old’s current deal with Sevilla expires next summer and so the player could be signed for as little as £7 million this summer.
