Zagreb’s Halilovic is on the radar of both north London clubs.
There has been much hype around Dinamo Zagreb youngster Alen Halilovic and now Arsenal have joined north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the race for the teenager, according to the Daily Express.
Bayern Munich and CSKA Moscow have also been linked with the 17-year-old, but there are concerns from the player’s father that Halilovic will not be given enough playing time.
Spurs nearly closed a deal for the attacking midfielder in the summer but the move was blocked for that very reason.
Similarly with the talent available to both Bayern and the Gunners, getting on the pitch regularly could prove to be a problem for Halilovic.
The starlet broke into the first team at Zagreb in the summer of 2012 and has since played 36 times for the club in all competitions and also has three caps for Croatia.
However, Arsene Wenger does still have one advantage and that is that the Frenchman is renowned for nurturing young talent – as seen by the development of players such as Cesc Fabregas, Thierry Henry and Robin Van Persie into world-class stars.
It’s this reputation that makes the club think they may have the edge in bringing the Croatian to the Emirates Stadium, despite already having the likes of Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, Tomas Rosicky and Jack Wilshere at the club.
