Despite his solid season between the sticks at Arsenal, Wojciech Szczesny could be dropped by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger for Tuesday night’s clash with Swansea, reports the Daily Star.
The Polish keeper did however concede six at the weekend during Arsenal’s humiliating defeat at the hands of Chelsea, where he was at fault for at least one of the goals.
Fabianski has impressed mightily during Arsenal’s FA Cup run, and in two recent clashes with Bayern Munich in the Champions League, and Wenger is considering giving him a chance to prove his ability as first choice keeper.
Fabianski’s contract is expiring at the end of the season though, and he’s rejected terms for an extension, claiming he wants to move and play regularly.
If he is given a final chance to impress, he may be able to resurrect his Arsenal career.
Barring the weekend horror show, Szczesny has done well this season, and many fans will think it unfair to punish him for an overall shoddy team performance.
The Gunners will go level on points with Liverpool if they beat Swansea on Tuesday, although they have a vastly inferior goal difference.
