Arsenal are the favourites to sign Monaco’s Park Chu-young after the player appeared to back out of a move to Lille.
The South Korea international was all set to sign for the Ligue 1 champions with a £10m fee agreed with the club from the principality but Park failed to appear to complete his medical, offering no explanation for his no show. Naturally, Lille are disappointed by the turn of events but club president Michel Seydoux has revealed that interest from the Gunners could have turned his head.
“We haven’t had a telephone call, nothing. From what we understand he could be at Arsenal,” Seydoux is qutoed as saying by Clubcall.
“Like Monaco, Lille are baffled. Everything had been agreed.”
Arsenal are keen to add to their forward options with Nicklas Bendtner heading for the exit dorr and Marouane Chamakh flattering to deceive and it seems Park will be the man to deputise for Robin van Persie when he succumbs to his annual injury.
