Pochettino, 42, and Arteta, 32, featured together in the French capital when they were at opposing ends of their respective careers, and the Spaniard has praised the former Saints chief as a major influence on him.
The two will square off against each other on Saturday afternoon in the season’s first North London Derby, and Arteta took time out to praise his former teammate.
“Yeah, we played together at Paris Saint-Germain. He was the captain for them when I started my career, he really looked after me. He was like a dad, even if he doesn’t like that word but he really looked after me.
“I always appreciate what he did for me when I started my career, all the advice that he gave me. He has been a top person in my career.
“He had a character. He had Marcelo Bielsa, who for him was his hero and his mentor. He had him in the national team and most of the concepts he’s got to try to put in his teams are from him.”
