Arsenal have announced that Aaron Ramsey is set to make an early return from his thigh injury, and will be in the squad to face Everton this weekend.
The Gunners midfielder has been sidelined since December with the issue, and has seen his side drop from top of the table to fourth place in that spell.
Ramsey’s form in the first half of the season saw him talked up as a potential winner of the Premier League’s player of the year awards, and proved instrumental in Arsenal’s title challenge.
The Wales international, who is 23 years of age, scored eight times and provided six assists in his 18 top flight appearances before getting injured, and linked excellently with Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud – setting up two goals for each player.
Arsene Wenger will therefore be delighted at the prospect of arguably his best midfielder returning to selection.
“Aaron and Nacho Monreal are back in the squad, so that is good news,” said Arsene Wenger to Arsenal’s official website.
“Hopefully they will be available for Sunday. [Abou] Diaby is back on the pitches, so that is good news.”
Mesut Ozil and Laurent Koscielny are also on the comeback trail.
