Nacho Monreal appeared to go over easily to win a first half penalty.
Arsenal full back Nacho Monreal has been accused of diving following his side’s shock Premier League victory at Manchester City today, report ESPN, with City manager Manuel Pellegrini feeling that the Spaniard dived to win the first half penalty that was converted by Santi Cazorla.

The penalty was awarded when Monreal broke into the box in the first half and went down under a challenge from City skipper Kompany and, whilst the contact appeared to be minimal, it was certainly an error by the Belgian.
Pellegrini did admit that his side weren’t good enough to deserve anything from the game in his post-match briefing, but also accused Monreal of diving:
“The movement of Kompany allows him [Nacho Monreal] to dive. I am not saying it was a bad mistake of the referee. The penalty changed the game, but it was not the reason we lost.”
