The 22-goal top scorer this season faces a further NINE weeks of football before he gets to take his boots off for a well earned rest.
Selected to take part in Chile’s Copa America assault, Wenger knows there will be no way the £33 million man will be available for the beginning of next season should the South Americans make it all the way to the final.
However, Wenger has been buoyed by the news that Sanchez will be able to take part in Arsenal’s FA Cup defence against Aston Villa this month before he jets off to to join up with the Chilean squad.
But with only five weeks between the Copa America final on July 4 to the start of the Premier League season on August 8, Wenger is gravely concerned that Sanchez runs the risk of total burnout.
“The Copa America is not good news for us because they finish the tournament very late and if Chile go a long way in the competition Alexis will miss the start of the season,” he said.
“Chile could call Alexis up before the FA Cup final but we have an agreement they won’t. Anyway, I’m sure he would not go before then.”
