Podolski came through the ranks at the German club before breaking into their first team back in 2004 – before joining Bayern Munich two years later.
However, the Germany international was back at the RheinEnergieStadion just three years after that and spent a further three seasons with his boyhood side before heading to the Emirates Stadium in 2012.
Although Podolski was initially a key part of the Gunners setup, first team opportunities for the 29-year-old have become increasingly limited in recent times and this term has seen the attacker barely used by manager Arsene Wenger.
The German has started just one match all campaign – which came during the Capital One Cup defeat to Southampton – and has openly admitted he would like to leave for Cologne.
“I can imagine a transfer to Cologne in the next few years because I’m always attached to the club,” Podolski was quoted by the Daily Star.
