Arsenal playmaker Santi Cazorla has insisted that he will be staying at the Emirates Stadium this summer, report the Mail, with the former Malaga and Villarreal man having been consistently linked with a return to La Liga this summer.
Cazorla starred during Arsenal’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Manchester City in the Community Shield, scoring the first goal with an arrowed low shot from the edge of the area.
The fact that the Spaniard started the match will be evidence that he remains in Arsene Wenger’s plans for the season, despite the signing of Alexis Sanchez, and Cazorla rubbished reports linking him with a return to La Liga:
“I’m only focused on training here and preparing well playing with Arsenal. It’s paper talk.”
“I’m well, I have the confidence of everybody, the support of the fans and we hope to have a good season.”
Reigning Spanish champions Atletico Madrid had been mentioned as a potential destination for Cazorla, but it now appears that he will once again be pulling on the red of Arsenal next season.
