Turkish giants Besiktas have made an enquiry over Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, reports suggest.
Former Besiktas board member Erol Kaynar has claimed on Turkish radio that the club’s head of transfers Erdal Torunogullari has met with Ozil’s representative over a possible shock move to the Istanbul club.
Erdal met with Mesut Ozil’s representatives last week and made an enquiry,’ Kaynar is quoted as saying by Metro.
Ozil is contracted to the Gunners until 2018 and it is extremely unlikely Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will allow one of his most prized assets to leave the club this summer.
The German international has ties to Turkey due to his ancestry, however, the 26-year-old is a massive Fenerbahce fan and has previously stated his desire to make the move to the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.
After a poor performance in Arsenal’s opening weekend loss to West Ham United, Ozil looked back to his best in Sunday’s win over Crystal Palace, misplacing just one of his 55 passes.
