Arsenal did not spend this summer after they completed a £10m deal for former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.
Manager Arsene Wenger has drawn massive criticism for the team’s lack of spending. The Metro reports that a Soccerex study has revealed that the Gunners made the smartest investment last season.
Forward Alexis Sanchez has been revealed as the best signing in Europe over the last year. He has emerged as the Gunners’ leading scorer since being sold by Barcelona for £35m.
Manchester United paid a similar amount for 19-year-old striker Anthony Martial this summer, which makes Sanchez look like even more of a bargain.
The 26-year-old star played in 86 percent of the Gunners’ minutes last season, which led the Premier League.
Everton striker Romelu Lukaku finished behind Sanchez with 84 percent of minutes played.
Sanchez also proved his incredible durability by participating in Chile’s 2015 Copa America championship run.
He scored 16 goals in 35 appearances for the Gunners, and continues to be the club’s biggest danger man.
It remains to be seen whether Sanchez can maintain his durability despite a heavy workload throughout 2015.
