Jack Wilshere will miss out against once more…
Arsenal’s English midfielder Jack Wilshere looks set to miss this Wednesday’s Champions league group tie with Borussia Dortmund, reports the Daily Star.
The 21-year-old went over on his ankle during training, and missed his side’s impressive 2-0 victory over Premier League rivals Liverpool on Saturday evening.
Unfortunately for the Gunners, the Dortmund game has come too soon for Wilshere, although his manager Arsene Wenger admits there is still a slight hope of him making the trip.
“Will he be available for Wednesday? I do not know. We will have to wait until Monday to see,” he said.
Worryingly, Wilshere’s problems with his ankles are becoming increasingly prominent. He previously missed an entire year with a problem with his right ankle, and his injury history means Arsenal will constantly monitor the recent struggles with his left.
Against Dortmund, Tomas Rosicky is likely to continue in Wilshere’s absence, especially after his excellent performance against Liverpool.
The Gunners lost in the reverse fixture at home a fortnight ago, thanks to a late goal from world-class forward Robert Lewandowski, and know that their chances of progression will be hanging in the balance if they fail to leave Germany with at least a point.
