It is claimed that the player himself has already agreed to the deal and so all that is left is for the respective clubs to agree on terms and make it official, as reported by Football Italia.
The Costa Rican international impressed at the World Cup in 2014, but he has failed to secure regular playing time at the Emirates.
While he threatened to break into the team at the start of last season, he was sent out on loan to Villarreal for the second half of the campaign where he struggled after scoring just one league goal in 14 games.
As a result, he will hope that a move to Sicily inspires him to produce his best football which in turn will either impress Gunners boss Arsene Wenger or earn him a permanent move elsewhere.
