Young Arsenal midfielder Chuks Aneke is set to leave the Emirates Stadium, with Leeds United leading the chase.
Turbulent Championship club Leeds United look set for some good news, with the Express reporting that they are close to a deal for Arsenal youngster Chuks Aneke.
The former England youth international has failed to open discussions with the Gunners about a new contract, meaning that he looks set for a permanent move away from the Emirates Stadium despite once being considered as a possible star of the future.
Aneke has spent most of the last two seasons on loan in League One with Crewe Alexandra, who he helped to the Johnstones Paint Trophy title in 2013 and to just escape relegation in the season that has just come to a conclusion.
Leeds United will be pleased to get their new era underway, although the club are yet to appoint a manager after new owner Massimo Cellino opted to dispense with the services of Brian McDermott.
Another Reading man, youth team boss Eamonn Dolan, remains the favourite to take over at Elland Road, but with no announcement having been made it is unclear who is currently pulling the strings at the West Yorkshire club.
Arsenal fans will be disappointed to lose another young player without them making an impression on the first team, as the once fertile spring of young players emerging from the academy continues to become more of a trickle.
