Walcott was shocked by the cut to the striker’s head.
England face an injury crisis and one of their most missed players will be Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, who will sit out the World Cup qualifiers with Moldova and Ukraine after a clash of heads with Phil Jones.
National team mate and Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has seen pictures of the injury and claims that the images were like something from a horror film.
“I have seen a picture and it is a very, very big gash. It’s not nice to see. It’s like something out of a horror film,” the 24-year-old was quoted by the Daily Mail.
Rooney was on the back pages for most of the summer after handing in a transfer request at Old Trafford and Chelsea made it their business to sign the attacker.
However, new United boss David Moyes managed to convince the 27-year-old to stay in Manchester and will now be hoping the striker can help the Scot retain the title for the club.
The Three Lions meanwhile will greatly miss one of their most influential players, as the nation faces the prospect of bypassing an automatic place at the World Cup in Brazil as they trail Montengro in the qualifying group.
Therefore victories over Moldova and Ukraine in the next week are vital for England’s cause, but without Rooney this will be a much tougher task.
To date the forward has played 84 times for the country and scored 36 goals.
