The Schalke 04 manager once said he was terrified that a massive deal would cost him Julian Draxler. His fears may soon be realized.
Schalke 04 winger Julian Draxler has been a valuable target in Germany – to the point that Arsenal are willing to nearly double other offers to secure his services.
According to the Squawka, Arsenal have officially submitted a €29 million bid (£21.1m) for the Schalke star. The Squawka report said that Arsenal will offer £17m upfront with £3.5m to be added on in bonuses.
Last month, ESPN FC reported that Schalke 04 rejected a €15 million bid from Juventus for their 21-year-old winger.
Earlier this month, Schalke 04 manager Andre Breitenreiter expressed concerns that Arsenal or another mega club would be willing to make his club an offer they couldn’t refuse for his 21-year-old superstar winger.
“I want to keep him 100% but I do not what will happen if we receive a brutal offer,” Breitenreiter said.
Julian Draxler made his senior debut with Schalke 04 in 2010 and has been a star winger for the club when healthy. He had a breakout year during the 2012-13 season and set a career high with 10 league goals and 13 total goals. Draxler was also a member of the German national team that won the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
