Arsenal look set to miss out on Roma defender Alessio Romagnoli, with AC Milan reportedly closing in on the signing of the star defender.
Romagnoli has been linked with a move to the Emirates this summer following his superb performances on loan with Sampdoria last season, but it seems the 20-year-old will ply his trade at the San Siro this season.
Roma director Walter Sabatini confirmed that an agreement has been reached between the two clubs and that a transfer was close to being completed.
“The agreement will be formalised tomorrow, certainly with the satisfaction of all concerned,” Sabatini told Sky Sports Italia, as reported by Football Italia.
According to Football Italia, AC Milan will pay a fee of €25m plus €5m in add-ons for the youngster.
Romagnoli becomes AC Milan’s eighth signing of the summer, joining the likes of Carlos Bacca and Luiz Adriano at the seven-time European champions.
