“We have one alert after the game at West Ham and that’s Welbeck,” said the Gunners boss.
“He could be short for Southampton on Thursday. He has a thigh problem.”
Welbeck’s absence marks the 47th injury the club have suffered this season, and Wenger lamented that face by adding: “I would love to have all my players available at some stage because when you see that some teams have two or three injuries, I think ‘we’ve had five, six or seven sometimes during the same period.
“It’s important that we get all our players back.
“I feel it is nearly impossible that we will have the same bad luck in 2015 on the injury front that we had in 2014.
“What is explainable in 2014 is that it was after the World Cup and we had many players injured because they played in Brazil.”
