Arsenal may have lost the race for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal to Real Madrid without even realizing it.
A seemingly-normal recent Instagram post by Juventus defender Mauricio Isla that was reposted by the Express which featured Isla along with the 28-year-old Arsenal target sitting at a table with a newspaper before they represented Chile in the 2015 Copa America – but the newspaper in question was actually Chile’s “La Tercera,” and the paper was opened to an article that reported that Vidal was moving to Real Madrid.
The Express indicated that recent moves by both Juventus and Real Madrid – with the Serie A champs signing Sami Khedira as a Vidal replacement and Real Madrid preparing to let Asier Illarramendi to make room for Vidal – could be the precursor to a potential blockbuster announcement for the £25 million-rated star.
Vidal was named the 2015 Copa America Final Man of the Match after his home nation (and host nation) Chile defeated Argentina in a 4-1 shootout following a 0-0 draw. In 124 appearances for Juventus, Vidal has 35 goals and has been named to the Serie A Team of the Year twice. Last season Juventus won the Serie A Championship and finished the year as the runner-ups in the UEFA Champions League final to Barcelona.
