Arsenal’s hopes of signing Napoli striker Eduardo Vargas have been dented, with the Serie A club confirming the Chilean is considering a move to the United Arab Emirates.
The 25-year-old spent last season on loan with Queens Park Rangers and has been heavily linked with a move back to London with the Gunners.
Despite reports suggesting the former Universidad de Chile man was being tracked by a number of big of Premier League clubs, Napoli sporting director Cristiano Guintoli says a move to either Spain or the UAE is more likely.
“We deal with many offers for Eduardo Vargas,” Giuntoli told El Mercurio, as reported by Daily Star.
“The UAE offer is very good for the club, but we’re also handling an offer from Spain.
“I cannot say the club, but they want to buy the player.”
Vargas scored three goals in 22 Premier League appearances in QPR’s disappointing relegation season but enjoyed a stellar Copa America tournament, finishing equal goalscorer as Chile won the continental tournament for the first time in the country’s history.
