Welsh outfit line up swoop for Ivorian.
Newly-promoted Premier League side Cardiff City are eyeing up a shock end-of-season move for Lille forward Salomon Kalou, according to reports in the Metro.
The skilful Ivory Coast international only made the short trip across the Channel last summer having spent six highly successful years with Chelsea, where Kalou made 251 appearances during that time, scoring an impressive 60 goals while also contributing 40 assists to the team cause.
However, the 27-year-old has found it hard to settle in northern France this campaign, finding the back of the net just eight times in the league for his new team, and on only ten occasions in all competitions in 31 games.
And, that has led to much speculation of late linking the attacker with a dramatic and immediate return to the Premier League next season, with initially Arsenal said to be interested in signing Kalou this summer.
Those reports though seem wide of the mark, and now it appears as though the Bluebirds may be first in line to seal the player’s signature, although with a contract at Lille that runs until 2016, the Welsh outfit will need to find about £7 million to secure his signature.
