Gunners set to swoop for Atletico misfit.
Arsenal are said to be preparing an £11.5 million move for unwanted Atletico Madrid midfielder Joshua Guilavogui, according to reports in the Metro.
The Gunners are on the lookout for another defensive midfielder this summer and Guilavogui is a long-term target for Arsene Wenger.
And manager Arsene Wenger has been encouraged to make a move for him after hearing that Atletico have put the 23-year-old up for sale.
The midfielder only arrived in the Spanish capital last summer, but he struggled to impress coach Diego Simeone and was subsequently loaned back to Saint Etienne for the remainder of the season.
Currently valued at £11.5 million, the Gunners are set to put the wheels in motion to bring him to north London, though they may face competition from Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg, who are also keen to snap him up.
Arsenal are also thought to be chasing Real Madrid star Sami Khedira as well as Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho, but Guilavogui represents a much cheaper alternative and offers amore versatile approach as he can also fill in at centre-back when needed.
Guilavogui made just a handful of appearances whilst at his former club last season, but has five full caps with the France national team to his name.
