Schalke’s Julian Draxler could make Premier League move in future.
Schalke midfielder Julian Draxler has hinted that he could be tempted by a move to England in the future.
Arsenal have been strongly linked with the 19-year-old after his impressive form at the Veltins-Arena last season, in which he scored 13 times in 39 games, catching the eye of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, as well as clubs from Spain.
But the Gunners boss will have to wait until 2014 to pursue his interest in Draxler after the young German international committed himself to another year in Gelsenkirchen, as he feels playing regular football will further further his development.
Draxler, who recently signed a contract extension until 2018, isn’t sure whether his circumstances will be the same next summer and insinuated that he could move on then.
“I’ve still got to work a lot on myself and improve,” he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“I’m staying here because I see the chance of playing frequently. I’m going to try to do that as much as possible and then we can reconsider in the new year.”
“I don’t want to name any clubs, but the countries are correct,” he added. “And I don’t think any country but these two would make sense for me anyhow.”
