The Gunners are hoping to sign a striker to cover the injury to Olivier Giroud.
Arsenal are set make a late deadline day bid to sign Swansea striker Wilfried Bony after they missed out on signing Colombian front man Falcao on loan, the Daily Star reports.
The Gunners were reportedly interested in signing Falcao but quickly ended their interest when the striker revealed his wage demands. Falcao is now set to move to Manchester United on a season long loan.
After deciding not to pursue Falcao, the Gunners will now try and sign Bony, who had an excellent debut season at Swansea last season, scoring 16 goals for the Swans.
The Ivory Coast striker has been a big hit at the Liberty Stadium but would be interested in a move to the Emirates because of the prospect of playing in the Champions League.
However, Swansea won’t let their star striker leave without a fight and could demand at least £19 million for the Ivorian.
While the Gunners are unlikely to want to pay that much for Bony, they may not have much choice. Arsene Wenger needs to sign a striker before the transfer window closes due to the injury Olivier Giroud suffered in the 2-2 draw against Everton earlier in the month.
Giroud is set to be out until the new year, meaning Arsenal will be short up front if they don’t sign a new striker.
