Arsene Wenger is keen on adding another world-class German to his roster…
Arsenal could make an ambitious move for Borussia Dortmund’s brilliant young attacking midfielder Marco Reus, reports the Express.
The 24-year-old joined the Champions League runners up last summer from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Monchengladbach, and is quickly establishing himself as one of Europe’s best players.
Dortmund would be desperate to keep hold of the attacking midfielder, especially after allowing Mario Gotze to join Bayern Munich in the summer – and the Gunners would have to pay well over £30m for Reus’s signature.
Arsenal spent £42m on Reus’s German compatriot Mesut Ozil this summer, and the playmaker has started life at the Emirates brilliantly. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is keen on adding another German international to his already impressive side, and has earmarked Reus as January’s number one target.
If a move for the attacker proves impossible, as it could well do, Wenger could instead try and sign Schalke youngster Julien Draxler for a similarly enormous fee.
With Santo Cazorla, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Theo Walcott and record signing Ozil already competing for attacking midfield roles, the addition of either Reus or Draxler would turn the Gunners into a truly formidable creative force.
