With the departure of Nacho Monreal expected, Arsenal are looking at Sead Kolasinac. Can he replace a key member of the Arsenal roster?
Arsenal have identified a potential replacement for one of their key defenders with the club expected to target Schalke 04 defender Sead Kolasinac.
According to the Metro, the Gunners see Kolasinac as a contingency target if and when Nacho Monreal makes an anticipated transfer to Athletic Bilbao this summer. The 22-year-old Kolasinac is coming off a sparingly-used 2014-15 season with Schalke 04 in which the club finished 7th on the Bundesliga table and made it to the Europa group stage.
Nacho Monreal made 28 appearances for Arsenal during the 2014-15 season and played the full 90 minutes for the club’s 4-0 FA Cup Final win over Aston Villa. But with the 29-year-old Spanish international expected to leave, Arsenal have been looking for a suitable replacement. The club’s early summer interest in Faouzi Ghoulam was well-documented, but the Metro reported they are turning their attention elsewhere.
The Metro reported that Arsenal should expect serious competition for Kolasinac’s signature with Juventus, Roma, Inter Milan and Fiorentina all believed to be contenders for the Schalke defender.
