The Blues have supposedly reached a verbal agreement with the German international to sign a contract with the club in January, when he will be free to negotiate with other teams if he does not extend his current deal with Real Madrid.
Arsenal, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have also been linked with the 27-year-old in recent times, but it seems that he has chosen to reunited himself with his old manager Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.
Khedira was widely expected to leave the Bernabeu during the summer, but Chelsea were keen not to pay a transfer fee for him due to him being in the final year of his contract, while Arsenal failed to agree fee with Real to snap him up now.
This now looks to have worked in Chelsea’s favour, and Mourinho will be delighted to bring in a top class addition to his squad for free, having spoken this week about the need for his club to sell players to compete in the transfer market.
