Arsene Wenger has set his sights on another young gem…
Arsenal are targeting Inter Milan’s Danish Under-21 midfielder Patrick Olsen, reports talkSPORT.
The 19-year-old is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Italian football, although he is yet to make a Serie A appearance for the San Siro giants.
Arsenal have been scouting Olsen for most of 2013 however, and have been mightily impressed with what he has to offer.
Olsen is the modern midfielder in every sense of the word – he can pass, shoot and create, but has fantastic technical attributes which help him receive the ball in tight areas and recycle it.
Arsene Wenger wants to bring Olsen to the Emirates on loan initially with a view to a permanent transfer. Although he would be unlikely to feature much in the first tea, the French boss wants to run his eye over the youngster at close quarters.
Inter rejected the loan proposition outright, but Arsenal are expected to return with a more serious offer in January.
Wenger has a fantastic record of developing promising midfielders. Patrick Vieira, Cesc Fabregas and Jack Wilshere to name a few have all thrived under his guidance, and Olsen may see the chance to work with him as irresistible.
