Midfield could make bow against Blues on Saturday.
West Brom midfielder Isaiah Brown will become the youngster player to appear in the Premier League if he makes his debut in tomorrow’s clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Brown has been included in the match-day squad for the trip to West London and could appear from the bench aged just 16 years and 54 days.
If Brown makes an appearance, he will surpass the previous record, set in 2007 by Fulham’s Matthew Briggs, by 11 days. If he remains an unused sub, Brown will have another chance to claim the honour, when the Baggies host Swansea on 9 March.
The Baggies needed permission to take Brown – who is studying for his GCSEs – out of school to train with the squad this week and he could be given an opportunity because of injuries to several players, including striker Shane Long.
Arsenal are reportedly tracking the teenager, who has stood out in performances for the Baggies under-18 and under-21 sides this term.
Brown would also be Albion’s second youngest debutant, after Frank Hodgetts, who was aged 16 years and 26 days when he appeared against Notts Country in 1940 in a war-time game.
