Luca Toni drops strong hint that Gunners top target could leave La Viola this summer.
Luca Toni believes Arsenal target Stevan Jovetic will leave Fiorentina this summer because he is not appreciated by the club’s fans.
Jovetic has been widely linked with a move to the Gunners, while Manchester City are also thought to be monitoring to Montenegro international.
The 23-year-old has scored 12 goals in the Serie A this season but has struggled for form in recent weeks, leading to some criticism from the terraces.
Jovetic’s veteran strike-partner Toni believes his teammate could leave La Viola this summer because of his treatment by the supporters.
“Stevan feels the Fiorentina fans treat him without love,” the 35-year-old Italian is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“Everybody says that the player’s struggles will end when he starts scoring again.
“The way I see it in this difficult period is that Jovetic is only supported when he is making a difference on the field. At the moment, there is no enthusiasm towards him – he does not feel loved.”
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly confident of landing Jovetic this summer, if the club secure qualification for next season’s Champions League, reports the Daily Mirror.
