Montenegrin international still expected to leave the Franchi this summer.
Fiorentina have dismissed speculation suggesting that striker Stevan Jovetic is heading to AC Milan in a swap deal that would see Stephan El Shaarawy head in the opposite direction.
The 23-year-old is expected to leave Florence this summer, but after Juventus completed the signing of Carlos Tevez on Thursday, it remains to be seen where he might end up.
Arsenal have been linked with having an interest in the Montenegrin international, and they are still an option despite prioritising Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain.
However, it is understood that Milan will not be landing the star this summer, with Fiorentina’s sporting director Daniele Prade ruling out a potential swap deal with El Shaarawy.
“This is an invention of the press about the news referring to an exchange between El Shaarawy and Jovetic,” he said as quoted by Sky Sports.
“It’s true I met Galliani in a restaurant, but we have absolutely not spoken about exchanges, so these things are groundless,” he added.
Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani was equally as dismissive of the speculation, suggesting that the rumour was pure fantasy.
El Shaarawy’s future at San Siro is under doubt, with the club expected to begin talks with him on his return from the Confederations Cup in Brazil.
Despite a break-out season last year, he suffered an alarming dip in form in the second half of the campaign, and critics suggested an incompatibility issue with Mario Balotelli.
Combined with the tactical switch Milan are set to undergo next season, reports suggest the club may look to offload him if the right offer is made. However, much will depend on how those planned talks go with Galliani when he returns to Italy.
