The German will be back in team after missing out against Sunderland.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that club record £42.4m signing Mesut Ozil will play against Stoke City in the Premier League at the weekend.
The German was left out against Sunderland last Saturday after the attacking midfielder picked up a dead leg during the Champions League last-16 defeat to Bayern Munich.
However, after missing a penalty in that loss to the Bundesliga champions and looking off the pace throughout the match, many think Wenger dropped Ozil to let the playmaker recover from the pressure of the media.
“Ozil had a difficult game and sometimes it’s good to refresh when you are under pressure,” the Frenchman was quoted by the Daily Mail.
“Stoke is a big game for us. We have to focus on our results because we are in a period where we have to push on.
“We’ve had two days off and sometimes it’s not only physical but mental tiredness.”
The Gunners’ 4-1 victory over the Black Cats keeps them just a point behind leaders Chelsea in the English top tier as the race for the title really hots up.
Only four points separates the Blues and fourth-placed Liverpool – with Manchester City making up the quartet – but despite this close competition, Wenger’s side are in a great position to lift the trophy for the first time in a decade.
If they are to do that they will need Ozil in good form though, with the 25-year-old scoring five times and providing 12 assists in 32 matches since arriving from Real Madrid last summer.
