Wenger confirms that Ramsey and Wilshere will both be absent for Palace game.
There is some bad news for Arsenal ahead of the Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Sunday as Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere are both ruled out.
Manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the midfield duo will miss the game with the Eagles, but is hopeful that Wilshere will return for the match with Liverpool six days later.
“For Sunday he [Wilshere] will be short but he has a chance to be available for the week after at Liverpool,” the Frenchman was quoted by Goal.
“Ramsey will be out for longer because he had a setback and it doesn’t look too good.
“It is matter of some weeks for him.”
The absence of the midfielders will be exacerbated by the fact that Mathieu Flamini will also be missing for the Palace game, after being given a straight red card during the 2-2 draw with Southampton on Tuesday.
The Frenchman will now have to sit out three matches on the sidelines and it means that vice-captain Mikel Arteta is the only available central midfielder.
It’s likely that Wenger will pair the Spaniard with Tomas Rosicky in the middle of the park, leaving the Gunners vulnerable when the opponents are in attack.
Therefore the boss will be relieved that it is Tony Pulis’ side that are coming to the Emirates Stadium and not a more offensive outfit.
Although the south London club have been in good form of late and have managed to climb out of the relegation zone, they have found the net just 15 times in the league this season – the lowest total from the English top tier.
