Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez, Danny Welbeck and Tomas Rosicky are all expected to miss Arsenal’s opening game of the new Premier League season against West Ham United on Sunday.
None of the three players have featured in pre-season, with Sanchez, Arsenal’s top scorer with 25 goals last season, having been given extra time off after helping Chile win the Copa America last month.
Wenger provided an update on the trio in an interview with the club’s official website on Thursday.

“We have Welbeck on a progressive recovery and Rosicky on a progressive recovery,” he said.
“Alexis is back in training but I don’t think he will be involved on Sunday, it is a bit early maybe. We have to decide that at the end of the week, but I don’t think he will be involved.”
Rosicky is still sidelined by an injury that he picked up while on international duty with the Czech Republic in June, and Welbeck has been struggling with a niggling knee problem that caused him to miss the FA Cup final victory over Aston Villa back in May.
Jack Wilshere is also in the Arsenal treatment room after suffering a training ground injury while challenging Gabriel Paulista. The England midfielder could miss up to two months of action.
