Leicester City has pulled the rug out from under Arsenal and Aston Villa by locking up star defender Jeffrey Schlupp to a sparkling-new four-year contract.
According to BBC Sport, the 22-year-old defensive ace had been playing on a three-year contract that he signed back in 2014, but this new deal will give him security with the Foxes until 2019. The move likely comes as quite a shock to Arsenal especially, who very seldom have missed out on signing major targets from bottom-ten clubs from the Premier League table.
During the 2014-15 season, Leicester City shocked the Premier League by rising from the gutter of the table to finish with an almost unfathomable 7-1-1 record in the final nine games of the season and claim 14th on the final table. During the season, Schlupp had 3 goals and made 31 appearances for the Foxes.
Last season Schlupp was named Leicester’s Players’ Player of the Year and Leicester’s Young Player of the Year. He had previously won the Leicester Academy Player of the Year award back in 2010-11.
