The Gunners are to complete a six month loan deal for Morata.
Despite the fact that Tottenham Hotspur have been tracking the striker, Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata is set to join Arsenal on a six month loan deal in January, according to the Daily Express.
The 21-year-old is desperate for first team football having only started one match this season and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is a big fan of the Spaniard.
On the international stage Morata has greatly impressed with 12 goals in just 11 matches for the Spain under-21 side, which included being the top-scorer at this summer’s European Championship – a tournament the nation won.
Spurs previously tried to bring the forward to White Hart Lane when Gareth Bale went the other way in a world record £85.3m switch.
However, Los Blancos were unwilling to allow Morata to leave the Santiago Bernabeu permanently and this is why they are open to Wenger’s proposed temporary deal.
The attacker has netted two times this term, both in La Liga and is considered to be one of the hottest prospects in Spanish football.
Wenger is keen to bring in support up-front as there is currently too much reliance on Olivier Giroud.
Although the Frenchman has looked in fine touch, any injury or suspension would leave the manager with only Nicklas Bendtner or Yaya Sanogo as alternatives.
Neither have impressed so far this campaign and the north London club are in desperate need of at least one new striker when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
