The 23-year-old is one of the most highly regarded defensive players in the Scottish Premiership at the moment, and could make a good signing for the Gunners as they look to bring in more depth at the back.
Arsene Wenger conceded at yesterday’s AGM that one more signing in defence was needed, with some fans unhappy that Thomas Vermaelen was not replaced after his summer move to Barcelona.
Van Dijk is now believed to be the club’s top target after his impressive form for Celtic, while other sources mention interest in Aston Villa’s Ron Vlaar.
