Arsenal’s efforts to sign 28-year old Lille forward Salomon Kalou never seem to bear fruit, and they are now set to battle with German side Schalke for his signature this summer.
Talksport reports that Schalke have recently entered the race to sign Arsenal’s long term target, who has been a hit at French side Lille since leaving Chelsea in 2012.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is a huge admirer of the versatile forward, who can play on either wing or as a central striker, and would be hoping to sign the Ivorian as an addition to his meek forward line in preparation for next season.
Kalou’s current side Lille meanwhile, could for once be open to selling their star player, according to various reports. The Ligue-1 side want to cut their wage bill for next season, and thus might want to offload the high earning Kalou despite his successful exploits in France over the last couple of seasons.
