Gunners keen to swoop in ahead of Lokomotiv to land Magpies star.

The 28-year-old is understood to be keen to end his four-year stay with the Magpies in order to land a move to a club currently playing in a European competition.
Gunners chief Arsene Wenger is keen to add a defensive midfielder to his ranks in order to build a stronger spine to his team and has apparently turned his attentions toward Tiote.
However, Arsenal are still waiting on the possibility of signing either Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira or Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho, though Wenger is aware that Tiote represents a much cheaper alternative.
But Wenger is aware that he may need to move fast as Russian giants Lokomotiv Moscow are also interested in making a swoop for him, and will return with an improved offer after having one rejected last week.
