Arsenal will attempt to hijack Ilkay Gundogan’s move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United in the summer transfer window, according to CaughtOffside.

The Germany international has shown himself to be one of the finest defensive midfielders in Europe in recent times, and could certainly do a fine job for this Gunners side, who have long struggled in that position.
Francis Coquelin has been a surprise performer in that role this term, though there remain doubts over the club’s depth due to some issues with fitness and form for the likes of Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere and Mathieu Flamini.

Although Manchester United have recently looked the frontrunners to snap up the talented 24-year-old, it now seems as though Arsenal are stepping up their efforts to hijack the move and bring the player to the Emirates Stadium for next season.
Jurgen Klopp’s imminent exit from the Bundesliga giants at the end of the campaign could boost both clubs in their pursuit of Dortmund’s star players like Gundogan.
