Arsenal are set to make another move for young Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho once the transfer window reopens, report the Mail, despite being put off by the fee being demanded by Sporting when negotiations broke down in the summer.

Chelsea considering activating £48m release clause
Sporting were demanding a fee of £30m for defensive midfielder Carvalho, but the fact that they have been knocked out of the Champions League and are failing to impress in Portuguese domestic football could open the door to a more reasonable price.
Arsenal are ready to test the waters with a £20m bid and, with negotiations reportedly having ended on friendly terms, the Gunners are confident that a deal can be done for the highly rated Portugal international.
