Wenger tracking Schalke’s Atsuto Uchida.
Arsenal are set to make a move for Schalke right-back Atsuto Uchida, according to Goal.com.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger wants the Japan international, 25, to provide defensive cover this season and eventually replace Bacary Sagna, who could be set for a new contract after re-opening talks with the club.
Wenger wants Uchida to compete with Carl Jenkinson for the right full-back spot at the Emirates Stadium in the future when Sagna, 30, finally departs.
Uchida has two years remaining on his current deal at the Veltins Arena and is expected to be available for around £5m.
Wenger is also tracking Sochaux right-back Sebastien Corchia, who is highly regarded in his native France.
