Arsenal are to attempt to fight off interest in Theo Walcott from Liverpool by opening new contract talks with their star winger, the Metro reports.

The England international will enter the final 12 months of his current deal with the Gunners over the summer, and could speak to a new club about a free transfer in the new year.
And as of yet, discussions of a new deal have yet to progress, and speculation regarding Liverpool’s interest has begun to ramp up in recent weeks.
But the Daily Telegraph are now reporting that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to offer him a new extension, and will even look to open talks after their FA Cup semi-final clash with Reading this weekend.
Conflicting reports have emerged from the Arsenal camp lately after Wenger claimed that talks had already started, with Walcott denying the reports.
However, with the Gunners now keen to secure a deal to keep hold of him, proceedings could come to a conclusion over the next fortnight.
